Find Your Calm at Adrift

"To heal the body, we must also honor the person within."
About Me
I’m Andrea Clow, the founder of Adrift Acupuncture. Originally from the Oregon coast in the United States, I’ve recently relocated to the Netherlands as an expat, bringing with me over 20 years of experience in alternative healthcare. I’ve always been inspired by the body’s natural ability to heal, which led me to the study of acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I completed my Master’s degree at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) and, after many years in practice, earned my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) in 2023. For me, learning never ends, and I continue to grow so I can offer the best care possible. I am nationally certified in the United States through the NCCAOM and licensed in the state of Oregon.
In my practice, I work with a wide range of conditions — including musculoskeletal pain, injury recovery, stress, sleep, digestion, and overall wellness. My approach blends acupuncture, herbal medicine, bodywork, and lifestyle guidance to support balance and vitality. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment where patients feel empowered on their path to health.
I also have a special focus on women’s health, fertility, and pregnancy, and became a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (ABORM) in 2016. In addition to my acupuncture training, I have studied Arvigo abdominal massage therapy as a way to further support reproductive and perinatal care. I enjoy meeting patients wherever they are in their journey, whether they are working toward reproductive goals or simply seeking more energy, ease, and wellbeing in daily life.
Through Adrift Acupuncture, I look forward to welcoming patients in my new community and supporting you — or someone you know — on the path to healing and balance.
Why Acupuncture
At Adrift Acupuncture, I offer a gentle, time-tested approach to healing that supports you in finding balance and connection—especially during times of transition. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture works by restoring the natural flow of energy (or Qi) in the body. When Qi moves freely, we experience ease—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Whether you're navigating stress, pain, hormonal shifts, or simply feeling ungrounded, acupuncture provides space for the body to recalibrate and heal. It's not just about relieving symptoms; it's about creating alignment from within.
For thousands of years, acupuncture has helped people find their center. It’s both ancient and deeply relevant for modern life.
By placing fine needles at specific points on the body, acupuncture supports the body’s innate ability to heal. It encourages circulation, regulates the nervous system, reduces inflammation, and promotes deep relaxation.
Whether you're navigating stress, chronic conditions, hormonal shifts, or simply seeking more balance in your life, acupuncture offers a gentle yet powerful path toward whole-body wellness

You have made a tremendous difference in the health of our family. We appreciate your commitment to healing through connection of mind, body and spirit. In thankfulness and gratitude for your knowledge, sincerity and your gift of listening. I always left knowing I was healing.

Difference Between Acupuncture and Dry Needling?
Though both acupuncture and dry needling use fine needles, they are very different in purpose and philosophy.
Acupuncture is a complete system of medicine rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It has been practiced for thousands of years and is based on the theory of Qi (vital energy) and meridians. It takes into account not just where you hurt, but why—looking at patterns in digestion, sleep, mood, cycles, and lifestyle. Acupuncturists receive extensive training in diagnosis, needling techniques, herbal medicine, and holistic care, often over several years and thousands of clinical hours. Treatment aims to restore balance in the body—physically, emotionally, and energetically. Acupuncture, by contrast, is a complete system of medicine.
Dry needling, on the other hand, is a modern technique primarily used by physical therapists or chiropractors. It focuses solely on releasing myofascial trigger points (tight bands in muscles) to relieve pain and tension. Practitioners typically undergo much shorter training programs, and the approach is biomechanical rather than holistic.
Both can be effective—but acupuncture offers a broader, deeper approach to long-term wellness.
